Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

Mess Attnd 1st Class J Guico. , . (d.4th February 1944) Held as a Prisoner in Fukuoka 3b.

Ld/Tel. Donald Sabin. Royal Navy, HMS Vetch. (d.4th February 1944) Leading Telegraphist Donald Sabin served on HMS Eagle from 1939 to 1941. Then we lose track of which ships he was on until he joined HMS Vetch in Alexandria in late 1943. He died of smallpox on 4th February 1944 and is buried in Gibraltar (North Front) Cemetery, Plot 1, Row D, Joint Grave 7. Can anyone fill in the gaps in his record of service please?Angela Taylor

Pte. James Brereton. British Army, 1st (London Scottish) Btn Gordon Highlanders. (d.4th Feb 1944) Jimmy Brereton was my cousin. I was only a child of seven when he died but I remember him clearly as he used to visit us quite often. He had only recently married his childhood sweetheart just before he died.
My father was serving in Italy at that time and he and another relative had arranged to meet Jimmy but failed in their attempt.

Trp. William Taggart. British Army, 46th (Liverpool Welsh) Btn. Royal Tank Regiment. (d.4th Feb 1944) William Taggart served with the 46th (Liverpool Welsh), Royal Tank Regiment.
The newspaper reported, Mr. and Mrs. Taggart of 22 Tay Street, Prince's Park, Liverpool, have been informed that their son, Trooper William Richard Taggart, aged 23, has been killed in action in the Central Mediterranean. He was previously reported missing and went through the North African campaign. At 18 he joined the Territorials, and went into the Regular Army on the outbreak of war, and had been overseas nearly two-and-a half years. He was an old boy of St. Silas's School, High Park Street.
