262655 Pte. William Arthur Parkes British Army South Lancashire Regiment from:Manchester Grandad, William Parkes was, according to his daughter, a 'boy soldier' and a 'crack shot'. According to the 1939 census he was recorded as 'incapacitated ex serviceman'. We are not sure if he received his leg wound while on active service, or, as rumoured by family, while training others.
