Pte. Charles Brayne
British Army 9th Btn. Welsh Regiment
from:Ellesmere
(d.23rd Sep 1917)
Charlie Brayne was my great-uncle. He was the youngest of six brothers who went to fight in the Great War, and the only one of the brothers who did not survive. Two days after being injured on 21st of September 1917 during the battle of Menin Road Ridge, he died in a field hospital from those injuries.
He is buried at the church in West Outer, just a few miles from Ypres.
