258165 L/Cpl. William Rose DCM, MM, CdG.British Army 9th Btn. Suffolk Regiment from:Lichfield William Rose was wounded twice, once in 1915 and then again in 1917. I have found evidence of his citations and the original documents. He is listed in London Gazette as wounded. He carried shrapnel in his head until 1959 when he died of a stroke, caused by it. He married Olive May Heeley in 1917 and had 9 children. Stories passed down says he was one of only a few surviving after moving from one big battle to another.
