257343 Spr Herbert George Phipps British Army 66th Field Company Royal Engineers (d.17th August 1915) Herbert Phipps was my maternal grandfather and he volunteered when he was in his mid thirties. He died in Gallipoli but how he died was a well kept secret in the family. He left a widow and 4 small daughters. All his letters home were burnt for some reason. I would just like to know what happened to him.
