247665 Cpl Robert Brown Royal Flying Corps 34 Squadron from:Stoneykirk, nr. Stranraer Bobby Brown returned from Canada to join up, enlisting in December 1915. His knowledge of motor vehicles, rare at the time in Europe, led him to service as an engine mechanic. He served during the early part of the Somme offensive and was deeply affected by the terrible losses in the air. Never spoke about his experiences. He died aged 95.
