247129 Cpl. James Randall Thursby British Army 8th (P.O.Rifles) Btn. London Regiment from:Acton, London (d.10th August 1918) James Thursby was born in Acton in 1887, Son of John and Matilda Thursby of 7 Grove Place, Acton, London. The 1911 census shows him living with his family in Grove Place and he was employed as a postman. He served with the 8th (Post Office Rifles) Battalion London Regiment, service no. 370574. He was killed on the 10th of August 1918 aged 31 years and is buried in Dive Copse British Cemetery near Sailly-le-Sec. He is remembered on the War Memorial, St Mary's Church, Acton, London.
