Sam Stanbridge, was born in Maulden. He enlisted at Ampthill and initially served with Middlesex Regiment then with the 8th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment. He was killed in action on 14th of February 1917 and is buried in Regina Trench Cemetery, Grandcourt, Somme, France.
