Gnr. Robert Alexander Lambie
British Army 47th Siege Bty. Royal Garrison Artillery
from:Glasgow
I know very little about my grandfather, Robert Lambie's, war service, only what I've been able to glean from his War Record. His record says he was posted to B.E. France but isn't specific about where exactly.
He was injured on 10th November 1917 but, as he was returned from hospital to his unit on the same day, it was clearly not serious.
He was a member of Queen's Park Football Club in Glasgow, played in the 1st Eleven in 1898/99 and later served on the committee. Several of his colleagues were killed in the Great War. John Lambie, one time captain of the Scottish football team, and William Lambie, also a QPFC player, were his older brothers.
