Ernly Wray fought on the Somme, with the Manchester City pals
he lost an eye to shrapnel and suffered Trench Foot. His company was decimated within 3 weeks. After recovery he became a stretcher bearer
but was invalided out in 1916 aged 17. He was unemployed, the promise to keep his job open was not honoured. His war Pension was cut from 8 shillings, then to 7 shillings, then to 6 shillings.
He died in 1931.
