233664 Cpl. Walter George Nicholson British Army 6th Btn. Lincolnshire Rgt. from:Nottingham I have very little information about my grandfather, Walter Nicholson, apart from a copy of the medal roll. I understand he fought at the Somme but didn't talk to anyone about his experiences which were obviously horrendous. I think he may have been serving at Gallipoli as the medal roll mentions he served in the Balkans. I understand he was a member of 6th battalion The Lincolnshire regiment. After the army he worked as a printer on The Nottingham Evening Post and later as a weigh bridge clerk at Clifton Colliery in Nottingham.
