230823 Pte. Ronald Percy Allen British Army Royal Sussex Regiment from:Bognor Regis, Sussex Ronald Allen was my great grandfather. He was a baker in Bognor Regis before the war. From his letters home he seems to have been a kind, gentle and loving man to his wife and children. He was made a prisoner of war in 1917 and, while a prisoner, accused of throwing another prisoner off a cart, which my grandma could never believe. He came home after the war and the family planned to emigrate to Canada via Liverpool but he was discovered to have TB and turned away. He may have contracted this in the war. He died in 1926.
