226112 Cpl. John William Wagstaff British Army 1/7th Battalion Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment from:Huddersfield (d.1st Oct 1915) John Wagstaff was born on the 5th November 1893, he was the son of Joseph & Emma of Cliffe End Longwood, Huddersfield and was educated at Lindley Church of England school. He was then employed as a finisher at J Crowther & sons Milnsbridge. He had been a member of the Territorials since 10th July 1911 and re-enlisted on the 23rd of October 1914. They embarked to France on 15th of April 1915, and he was killed in action, shot in the head by a sniper, on the 1st of October 1915. He is buried at Bard Cottage Cemetery, Boesinghe, Belgium.
