222860 Pte. John Robert Davey British Army 1st Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers from:Ripon My grandfather, John Davey, was posted missing on the 12th April 1918 possibly killed in action. He was actually captured by the Germans having had his jaw shot off in battle, he was nursed by the Germans, then escaped back to his own lines. He went on to serve in Dublin against the IRA uprising. He survived the war and lived a full life tending his much loved garden in North Lees, Ripon, North Yorkshire.
