221885 A/Cpl. John Sweeney British Army 8th Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers from:Ballycroy, Mayo, Ireland (d.12th Aug 1917) John Sweeney was my great uncle. He joined the British Army in December 1914 in Newcastle. He died on or about the 12th of August 1917, this makes me wonder if he was in no man's land. There was a picture of him in my Grandmother's house but unfortunately it no longer exists. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a photo of him or his regiment? My mother was able to visit John's grave after a period of seventy years, he is buried in Aeroplane Cemetery in Belguim. I would love to know where he would have been on the day of his death, if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
