221171 Pte. Robert Abbott British Army 5th Btn. East Lancashire Regiment from:4 Ribbleston Place, Preston, Lancashire Robert Abbott was born in 1897, and enlisted, at the age of 18yrs, on 11th December 1915. He gave his trade, on enlistment, as a Cotton Spinner. His father's name was Thomas Abbott and the family home was 4, Ribbleston Place, Preston. He went to France in March 1917 and was wounded, in the forearm, in September 1918 as a result of which, he spent a period of time in Leeds Hospital.
