219509 Rflmn. Sydney Robert Gray British Army 10 Btn. Rifle Brigade from:Wanstead Remembering World War I and my Grandfather. He never spoke about the war. He joined the army at 18 years of age in November 1915 and spent nearly 3 years serving in 10th Battalion of the The Rifle Brigade. He saw action at Ypres and the Battle of the Somme. He was discharged due to wounds he received in action to his neck, right arm, foot, leg and back. I never really knew him but I know he was a very brave man.
