219471 Pte. William John Springett British Army Middlesex Regiment from:Bury St Edmunds My grandfather Bill Springett was injured during the war and was evacuated back home. He had part of his thigh blown away during a battle and survived in a hedge until the stretcher bearers arrived to evacuate him to a field hospital. He never spoke about the war so we don't know exactly where or when this happened. We know he fought from 1914 as he was awarded the 1914-15 Star.
