216482 ERA. Edmund McLarney Royal Navy HMS Raglan (d.20th Jan 1918) Engine Room Artificer Edmund McLarney served on board HMS Raglan and was killed in action age 31 on the 20th January 1918 when the ship was sunk by a powerful enemy force in the Dardanelles. He is remembered at Palmer Cenotaph and is buried in Lancashire Landing Cemetery. Edmund was born in Jarrow 1886, son of Mary McLarney (nee Riley) and the late Hugh McLarney of 19 Grange Road, West Jarrow. In the 1911 census Edmund(24)single, a marine engineer fitter and his brother Joseph Septimus(29) single, an elementary school teacher are living with their widowed mother Mary(64) at that address.
