216343 Pte. Thomas Lindsay British Army 1st Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) (d.9th Jan 1916) Thomas Lindsay was a regular soldier who first served in France with the BEf on 28th of December 1914. He died age 20. He was born in Barrow in Furness in 1895, son of Thomas and Jane Ann Lindsay (nee Ryan) of 48 1/2 Monkton Terrace Jarrow. In the 1911 Census Thomas Lindsay, age 15, a General Labourer in a Cement Works, lived with his parents Thomas & Jane Lindsay & his siblings at 29, Curry Street, Jarrow-on-Tyne. He had enlisted in Jarrow. Thomas is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery and is commemorated on the Palmer Cenotaph Jarrow.
