216242 Pte. William Strong British Army 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (d.26 Jun 1917) William Strong died aged 28, he was born in Jarrow 1889, son of William Arrowsmith Strong and Martha Ann Strong (nee Manuel). In the 1911 Census William Strong, age 22, an Underground Pumper in a coal colliery, is listed as living with his Widowed Mother, Martha Ann Strong & his siblings at 2, Rickaby Street, Sunderland. He enlisted in Sunderland and first served in the Balkan Theatre on 28th September 1915. William is buried in Rookery British Cemetery Heninel.
