Pte. James Hewitt
British Army 2nd Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry

James Hewitt age 19, died on 19th August 1915, whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
He had formerly served with the Durham Light infantry. He was born in Jarrow in 1896 and lived and enlisted in teh town. He was the son of Margaret Sawyer (formerly Hewitt) of 14 Pearson Place Jarrow.
James is buried in Carnoy Military Cemetery and is commemorated on the Triptych in St. Paul's Church Jarrow.
