Pte James Burgess

James Burgess was 25 years old when he died on 5th February 1915 whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. He had enlisted in Beverley.
He was born and lived Jarrow, on the 1911 census he is recorded as James Burgess living with John Robert Burgess his widowed father at 239 High Street, Jarrow. His mother was Margaret Burgess (nee Veitch)
His older brother William Soutter Burgess and and younger brother Harry Burgess were of the fallen.
James is remembered in Ypres on the Menin Gate Memorial and is commemorated on the Triptych in St. Paul's Church Jarrow.
