Henry Patterson Berry died on 24th March 1918 at the age of 21 whilst serving with 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers.
He was born in Wallsend, lived in Jarrow and enlisted in Newcastle.
Son of Catherine Berry (nee Patterson) and the late George Berry. On the 1911 census Henry Patterson Berry age 14 is recorded as being on the Wellesley Training Ship on the Tyne. The Wellesley Nautical School was founded in 1868 by a group of Philanthropic businessmen on Tyneside under the leadership of James Hall, to provide shelter for Tyneside waifs and train young men for service in both Royal and Merchant Navies.
Henry is buried in Bac-Du-Sud British Cemetery Bailleulval and is commemorated on the Triptych in St. Paul's Church, Jarrow.
