Joseph Foster was the son of Thomas Foster of 45 Oak Street Jarrow and the late Frances Foster. On the 1911 census Joseph Foster age 15 Colliery Labourer is with his parents Thomas and Frances Foster at 7 Herd Street, Wardley Colliery. He was born and enlisted Gateshead.
James died aged 20 on 5th November 1916 and is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery.
