211620 Pte James Talbot British Army 9th Btn. Loyal North Lancashire Regiment from:Haslingden, Lancashire (d.20th June 1917) James Talbot was my grandmother's brother. He died as a result of his wounds on the 20th June 1917 and is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extention, France. A tribute to him appears on the family grave in Haslingden Cemetery. Before serving with the Loyals he had served as a Private in the East Lancs Regiment (S/N 24704). Other than these uncovered facts little is known of James. He was 29 at death and we have been unable to uncover whether he was married, although we suspect he wasn't. At the time of his death the 9th Battalion, 25th Division was engaged in the Battle of Messines, Flanders. We do not know when, how or the type of wounds that James succumbed to.
