1567 Capt. Jack Valentine Cook MC. British Army 11th Btn. Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment from:Hobart, Tasmania, Australia (d.1st Oct 1918) Published in The Mercury Newspaper, Sat 11th March 1916 Intimation has been cabled from Lance-Corporal Jack V. Cook, an old Officer College boy, and son of the late Superintendent J.V. Cook, saying that he had passed a successful examination and been appointed to Lieutenancy in the Royal West Surrey Regiment, generally known as the "Queen's Own" Lieutenant Cook is at present in residence at Keble College, Oxford. Published in The Mercury Newspaper, Sat 21st Dec 1918 Killed in action on October 1st, 1918 in France. Captain Jack Valentine Cook M.C, only son of the late Superintendent J.V.
