1493 Mjr. Cyril Rutherford Young British Army 253rd Siege Bty. Royal Garrison Artillery (d.1st Jul 1917) Cyril Young studied engineering at Durham University. He went to France as a subaltern with the 41st Siege Battery, R.G.A., in early 1915. He returned to England in 1916 to train and command the 253rd Siege Battery, returning to France as a Major, early in 1917. On the 7th of June 1917 he was severely wounded at the Battle of Messines. He was sent back to England on the 9th June and died of his wounds in a London hospital on 1st of July 1917.
