1443 Pte. John Henry Clark British Army 13th Btn. Durham Light Infantry from:Sacriston, Durham J.H. Clark was my great-grandfather. He enlisted at the outbreak of war and went overseas with the battalion on August 25th 1915. He saw action throughout the war serving with a rifle platoon in C Company, and was discharged to the Class Z Reserve after the end of hostiliites. He was an early member of the British Legion and returned to his pre-war job as a miner -on August 26th 1936 he was killed by a fall of stone whilst working in Witton Colliery in County Durham.
