1206562 Pte. Robert Longstaff British Army Durham Light Infantry from:Spenymoore I have inherited my grandfather Bob Longstaff's WW1 service medals and Queen Mary Christmas box. I know very little of him, other than that he survived the war but died when I was young, over 50 years ago. I will try to find out more through the family, but thought it would be good to have him recognised and listed on your site. I have "Pip, Squeak and Wilfred", engraved with his name and number, with "B" Longstaff on the 1914 star and "R" Longstaff on the other 2 campaign medals. I know he was a miner, but do not know how he became part of the B.E.F. or how he became involved so early in the war. Would welcome any information that anyone might have.
