William Gaskell was killed in action on the 22nd of May 1917, aged 21. Buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension in France, he was the son of Mr. G. H. and Mrs. R. Gaskell, of 53, Evelyn St., Burnley.
Born in Inniskilling, he was a tape labourer at H. Walton's Coronation Mill prior to enlisting. His father, Serjeant G. H. Gaskell, was a veteran of the South African wars.
