BQMS. James Burke DCM.
British Army 14th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery
from:Liscard
My great grandfather James Burke served in WW1 with the Royal Garrison Artillery (Liscard, Cheshire). He fought under the 14th Siege Battery.
He received the DCM for his gallantry during heavy gas concentrations in the Nieppe Forest during May & June 1918 and for keeping his men motivated to keep going under very trying conditions.
He died in February 1959.
