James Tighe died of wounds on the 25th of July 1917, aged 22. Buried in the Bethune Town Cemetery, France, he had formerly served as Pte. 17588 of the Scottish Rifles. He received serious gunshot wounds on 24th of July 17 and died the following day in hospital.
He was the son of Michael and Maria Tighe, of 39, Lyndhurst Rd., Burnley. His brother John Tighe also fell a fortnight later. He is buried at Noeux-les-Mines Communal Cemetery
