1205725 L/Cpl. Thomas William Highams British Army 10th Btn. Royal West Kent Regiment from:Maidstone, Kent (d.21st Sep 1917) Tom was my uncle and as far as I can gather was first posted to France in May 1916. He was allowed leave from the front to attend the funeral of his young wife who had died of T.B in February 1917. He returned to the front only to be killed in action during the Battle of the Menin Road in September. He is commemorated on the memorial wall at Tyne Cot Cemetery.
