L/Cpl Jack D'Hooghe
Army 7th Bttn Suffolk Rgt
from:Nottingham
(d.3rd July 1916)
It is 92 years ago today that my great uncle, Jack D'Hooghe, was KIA at Ovillers on the 3rd day of the Somme offensive. 21 officers and 458 other ranks were killed, wounded or missing after this assault. Jack is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial and there are several headstones to unknown members of the Suffolk regiment in Ovillers cemetery.
We shall not forget.
