Pte. Frederick Harold Haynes
British Army Royal Army Ordnance Corps
from:66 Steward Street, Spring Hill, Birmingham
Frederick Haynes is my Grandfather.
In the family, there are postcards from Arras and Ypres sent by him to my Grandmother, Florence Kate Findon, who he married after the War. Other than these, there are no details of his active service in France.
He and his two brothers, Sidney and Ernest, each fought for and survived the full duration of the Great War and returned home to Birmingham afterwards. I was told by my mother, his daughter, that he would never talk about the war and it was never discussed in the family while he was alive.
I have his British War Medal and his Victory Medal, with ribbons, in the original box and postage wrapper.
