William Brown was my 3rd Great Uncle. He was the son of Robert and Margaret Brown, of Millview in Comber, Co Down.
He enlisted in Comber and during the war he served with B Company, 13th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles in 108th Brigade, 36th (Ulster) Division.
He was aged 20 when he was killed in action. Lance Sergeant William John Brown is buried in Authuille Military Cemetery, France and he is commemorated on Comber and District War Memorial and in Second Comber Presbyterian Church. Two of his brothers were also serving on the front at the time.
