Pte Albert Victor Millsom

Albert Millsom served with the 13th and 11th Battalions, Essex Regiment.

Additional Information:

Albert was my Grandfather, he was originally in the 8th Essex .He went to France with the 13th battalion 1/9/1916. When they were disbanded he was in the 11th battalion 11/2/1918. He was wounded in September 1918 near Amiens. He had to have his right leg amputated at the knee. He was discharged on the 3/5/1919. He worked as a telephonist at the GPO until he retired. He also worked for Colchester United . Before the war he was a goalkeeper for Colchester Imperials, and also for his battalion. He died in 1966 shortly after the World Cup win.
