Pte. Shadrach Corbett

British Army 1st Btn. Welsh Guards

from:Coedpoeth, Wrexham

(d.16th Sep 1916)

Shadrach Corbett was a distant relative of mine who lived in the next village to my grandparents who were miners. He was killed at the Battle of the Somme at the age of 26 and was an only child. Other than that I do not know.

Additional Information:

I think Shadrach was my grandmother's cousin. Her mother was Mary Jane Corbett born Bromlow , Shropshire. Andrew was her Uncle and went to join other members of the family near Wrexham. My Nan said Shadrach had emigrated to Australia but came back to join up. Not sure if this was correct or not but I believe he had brothers. I have a long complicated family tree!
