Capt. Robert Alexander Hunter "Bertie" Tougher
British Army Royal Iniskilling Fusiliers

Bertie Tougher was a member of Queen's University OTC. He joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusilers on the outbreak of war as a Lieut. His Medal Roll shows that he was awarded the Victory Medal and the 15 Star entering the Gallipoli theatre of War on the 7th of August 1915 and his regiment given as the RASC.
He served in Egypt, and was mentioned in Dispatches for "distinguished service in connection with military operations under his command. signed Gen.Sir Edmund Allenby. GMCG, KCB. C in C Egyptian Expeditionary Force"
He left the Army in 1922, and practiced as a solicitor in Belfast. He later joined the Colonial Service and spent the 2nd World War as Assistant Commissioner of Lands in The Gold Coast.
He died in Belfast in 1948 and his name appears on the War Memorial of St. John's Presbyterian Church, Belfast.
