from:Coronation Road, Bristol

(d.1st Aug 1916)

Joseph Skinner died of wounds on 1st of August 1916 and is buried at Heilly Station Military Cemetery, Mericourt l'Abbe.

Additional Information:

This is my great-great uncle, born at Thrapston, Northamptonshire in 1883. A former purser with Campbell’s pleasure steamers in Bristol, he enlisted with ‘Bristol’s Own’ as a stretcher-bearer. There’s possibly a discrepancy regarding his date of death. One piece of documentation suggests it might have been 27 July 1916 rather than 1 August.
