Pte. Herbert Bowker
British Army Lancashire Fusiliers
Herbert Bowker was born in Leeds and lived in Blackburn, Lancashire.
Herbert's parents home had an about A2 size studio photographic portrate of their son in uniform which had brass lapel badges in the form of a “ball shape with flames emergingâ€. So we believe he served with the Lancashire Fusiliers. His medals were in a small box with other items in a sideboard drawer. I remember the rainbow ribbon, decades after they were awarded they looked rather neglected (1940s / 50s).
I am trying to establish his regiment and service record, I understand he was gassed and consequently died in 1921.
