Cpt. Charles Albert Glentworth Cunningham

British Army 12th Btn. Cameronians Scottish Rifles

(d.5th June 1915)

I have been doing research about my family Cunningham and found that Charles Albert Glentworth Cunningham died on the 05 June 1915 in Gallipoli serving the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 12th Battalion. Unfortunately, this is all I have about him and would love to find out anything further.

His name is on the Ipoh War Memorial. His name is also on the memorial at the East India Club London

He was born on 3rd October 1870 at Woolwich He joined the Welsh Regiment 1892 He served in the Natal Police as sergeant and on the recommendation of the Governor of Natal was commissioned 2nd lieutenant with North Staffordshire Regiment. 19th May 1900 He went to Malaya as a planter He married Violet Marion daughter of Lt.Col Howard Brunker November 1912 in Singapore His parents were Albert and Georgiana. He had two brothers Calvert and John

He was killed whilst serving with the KOSB. Originally, posted as wounded and misssing.

In the Boer War he served with the Natal Police and then was commissioned into the North Staffordshire Regiment but served with the 8th Mounted Infantry. In 1908 he was seconded to the Gold Coast Regiment.
