220282 Pte. Arthur Smith British Army 2nd Btn. South Staffordshire Regiment from:Cleethorpes (d.28th Oct 1914) Arthur Smith is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres. This is an attempt to find out where and how my great uncle died. I have sent off for his death certificate. I have his war medals. His death was either in Belgium or France. Why don't they know? The information I have from the War Graves Commission is that he was 23 years old. What is happening here? Were they just a number so it didn't really matter how old they were or even where they died for this country.
