James Hicks was one of four brothers, three of whom who went to war in WW1 and never returned
He served with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Berkshire regiment and was killed in action on 8th August 1916
He has no grave but is remembered on the Thiepval War Memorial.
He was born 1880 in Hurst, Berkshire, he enlisted in Wokingham in October 1915, he lived in Binfield, Berkshire.
He is also commemorated on the Hurst memorial website, on Binfield war memorial. He and two of his brothers' names were called out on 1st Sept 2014 at the Tower of London moat of poppies.
Remembered forever by his great great niece
