Thomas Harley served with the 1/8th Battalion, Manchester Regiment

Additional Information:

Harley won his DCM for "great gallantry and initiative on 6th November 1918 east of the Foret de Mormal. While serving as a runner he took a message to a Lewis-gun team to move forward to a position close to the enemy, On finding that the old team had become casualties he carried the Lewis-gun and ammunition forward to the new position himself,and,returning,guided a fresh team to the gun. Afterwards he carried the wounded of the first team back to safety." He died on 7th February 1957 aged 71 and is buried in a family plot in Ballengeich Cemetery, Stirling
