Pte. John Bowes
British Army 2nd Btn. Leinster Regiment
(d.12th Aug 1915)
John Bowes was born in Dublin and enlisted Mosney Camp, Co. Louth.
Additional Information:
John was my great uncle, myself and my father ( ex micks) went to Belgium to track down his grave. We are from Dublin and my dad wanted to finally find out more. We discovered that he was killed at Belwaarde farm. Amazingly his death was recorded in his COs diary. This records that he was killed by an "enfilade" bullet at dawn. He is now remembered on the Menin gate.
