216440 Rfmn. John McMaster Boyce British Army 12th Btn Royal Irish Regiment from:Mossley (possibly) (d.1st Jul 1916) John McMaster Boyce was my grandmother's brother (my great uncle). He was killed on 1 July 1916 and has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. A couple of years ago I affixed a plaque on the upper right hand building at the top of the Ancre Cemetery to commemorate him.
John was originally from the Sandy Row area of Belfast and we believe he moved out to the Mossley area where he worked as a tenter in a mill.
His brother, James was badly injured in WW1, he had part of his jaw shot off. Additional Information: | I am going to visit Flanders next week John McMaster Boyce was also my grandmother's brother (Margaret McConnell). I will look for your plaque.Karen
