Born around 1899, James was the son of James and Hannah Gertrude Walters, of 62, Vernon Avenue, Old Basford, Nottingham.
Private James Walters, service no. 25793 of the 9th Service Battalion, was killed in action at Delville Wood, Longueval 9/8/1916 aged 16yrs 11 Months. He was serving with the Machine Gun Company, 9th Sherwood Forresters which was attached to the South Staffordshire Regt prior to the Somme Offensive and went into action in Delville Wood around the 7th August 1916.
James is buried in Delville Wood Cemetery, Longueville.
