Thomas Bell Hardy was a Lance Corporal with the 1st/5th Battalion Northumberland Dusiliers when he was killed aged 21. He was born in Jarrow 1893 son of Mary Jane Hardy (nee Gardner) and Robert John Hardy. On the 1911 census he is listed as Thomas Bell Hardy age 18 Stone Miner below ground is with his widowed mother Mary Jane Hardy and family at 19 Lamb Street, Walker. Thomas enlisted in Walker. He is remembered on the
Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres and is commemorated on the Triptych in St. Paul's Church, Jarrow.
